In
continuance of its yeoman service for the development of the nation, the
Red Horns Division of Army organised a recruitment rally at Mangaldai for
the youth of Darrang, Kamrup, Nalbari and Barpeta districts of Assam. This
much awaited rally was organised under the aegis of BRO, Narangi.
The
rally was flagged off by Brig Rana Goswami, Commander, Hatigarh Brigade.
Addressing the participants at the inaugural ceremony, the Commander
highlighted the contribution of the state of Assam to the Armed Forces,
reminding them of the two great sons of Assam, Jintu Gogoi and Udhav Das,
who laid down their lives during Kargil conflict.
Altogether, 250 aspirants of Darrang
were trained for the rally by Red Horns Artillery Brigade. They were
shortlisted and selected from several thousand potential candidates by
various units of the Brigade in Darrang district.
The
recruitment rally received an overwhelming response from the local
youngsters. It was graced by the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of
Police, Darrang district and senior officers of the Army and civil
administration. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Shantanu Thakur, Deputy
Commissioner, Darrang informed that the aim of the rally was to provide an
opportunity to the valiant youth of the region to join the noble
profession of soldiering and thereby contribute to the economic
development of the region. He also lauded the efforts of the Army in
bringing normalcy to this strife-torn region.
