In continuance of its yeoman service for the development of the nation, the Red Horns Division of Army organised a recruitment rally at Mangaldai for the youth of Darrang, Kamrup, Nalbari and Barpeta districts of Assam. This much awaited rally was organised under the aegis of BRO, Narangi.

The rally was flagged off by Brig Rana Goswami, Commander, Hatigarh Brigade. Addressing the participants at the inaugural ceremony, the Commander highlighted the contribution of the state of Assam to the Armed Forces, reminding them of the two great sons of Assam, Jintu Gogoi and Udhav Das, who laid down their lives during Kargil conflict.

Altogether, 250 aspirants of Darrang were trained for the rally by Red Horns Artillery Brigade. They were shortlisted and selected from several thousand potential candidates by various units of the Brigade in Darrang district.

The recruitment rally received an overwhelming response from the local youngsters. It was graced by the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police, Darrang district and senior officers of the Army and civil administration. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Shantanu Thakur, Deputy Commissioner, Darrang informed that the aim of the rally was to provide an opportunity to the valiant youth of the region to join the noble profession of soldiering and thereby contribute to the economic development of the region. He also lauded the efforts of the Army in bringing normalcy to this strife-torn region.
