New Aoc-in-C for SWAC Takes Over

Air Marshal M McMahon has taken over as the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, South Western Air Command, IAF. This Air Force Command covers Gujarat, Rajasthan, Goa and Maharashtra.

Air Marshal McMahon was commissioned as a fighter pilot in the IAF on June 22, 1963. He has been awarded for gallantry in both the 1965 and 1971 wars. A qualified flying instructor, he has also served in Iraq. He was also the Air Attache at the Indian Embassy in Paris, France. He has commanded two Jaguar Squadrons. He has also served the Tactics and Combat Development Establishment and commanded a premier air base at Ambala. A graduate of the Australian Joint Services Staff College, he has served as the Director Air Staff Requirements and the Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Operations) at Air Headquarters. Among his operational tenures he has served as the Senior Air Staff Officer of the Western Air Command during the Kargil conflict and Eastern Air Command subsequently.
