Defence
Minister of France, Ms Michele Alliot Marie led a high level
delegation to India with an aim to strengthen bilateral relations.
During the delegation level talks, the French Defence Minister Mrs
Michele Alliot Marie and Defence Minister, Mr George Fernandes
discussed the state of global and regional security environment
including the situation in Afghanistan and Iraq. Both sides felt that
India and France have excellent relations and agreed to take new
initiatives for further strengthening the bilateral relations.
The
nine-member Indian delegation headed by Mr George Fernandes included
Mr Subir Datta, Defence Secretary, and Mr NS Sisodia, Secretary,
Defence Production and Supplies.
Gen
NC Vij, Chief of the Army Staff, Admiral Madhvendra Singh, Chief of
the Naval Staff and Air Chief Marshal S Krishnaswamy, Chief of the Air
Staff called on the visiting dignitary at South Block.
Earlier
on her arrival, Ms Marie was received by Mr George Fernandes at South
Block. She also inspected the ceremonial guard of honour.
