Uttam
Chand Kashyap, a lecturer at PG College, Solan (HP) and S Parthiban, a
physical education demonstrator at Agarwal School, Veperi, Tamil Nadu have
been adjudged best in the senior and junior division Associate NCC
Officers' Training Course respectively. They were awarded the Director
General's Baton by Maj Gen HK Sharma, Additional Director General, NCC at
an impressive passing-out parade at the NCC Officers’ Training Academy,
Kamptee.
Vivek Tyagi, a lecturer in
statistics at NAS (PG) College, Meerut (UP) and Girijesh Kumar Tewari, a
teacher at CNI Boys Inter College, Dehra Dun were awarded Commandant's
Silver Medal in the senior and junior division respectively.
Altogether,
57 senior division and 115 junior division Associate NCC Officer cadets
participated in the impressive passing-out parade. Having completed a
rigorous military training in unarmed combat, drill, field and battlecraft
and handling of different types of weapons, these teachers would function
as Associate NCC Officers, playing an important role in training, guiding
and motivating their students.
These officer cadets marched in to
the tune of Colonel Bogey, with their heels digging into the ground
in perfect symmetry with the beat of the drums of the Brigade of the
Guards Band. Maj Gen Sharma inspected the parade. The cadets marched past
the dais to the tune of Kadam Kadam Baraha Ja, Sarey Johan Se Achcha,
and Bharat Ke Jawan, proudly displaying the excellence achieved during
their training. Finally, the cadets walked out of the Parade Ground in
slow march, taking the final step out of the training centre to the tune
of Auld Lang Syne.
The parade was commanded by Senior
Under Officer Dr Uttam Chand Kashyap while S Parthiban, R Kharsynteng,
Vivek Tyagi, A Anil Kumar, SP Mishra and Girijesh Kumar Tewari were the
Platoon Commanders.
Addressing the parade, Maj Gen
Sharma exhorted the Associate NCC Officers to guide the exuberant youth to
build a better nation. He asked them to set high standards of honour,
integrity, loyalty and discipline for the youth to emulate.
Later, Maj Gen Sharma, other senior
officers, parents and relatives of the passing-out officers participated
in the 'pipping' ceremony where the officer ranks were fixed on the
shoulders of the passing-out ANOs.
