Army station garden and flower show competition, organised under the patronage of Maj Gen RR Goswami, GOC 101 Area, was held at Shillong. The competition was conducted in three parts. The first part was held for major and minor units, flag houses, messes, institutions, offices and independent bungalows. The second part of the competition constituted display and judgement of potted plants and the third part included arrangement of fresh flowers, ikebana and foliage.

Assam Regimental Centre (ARC) lifted the over-all best station garden trophy-2003 for the second consecutive year and 58 Gorkha Training Centre (GTC) was declared runners-up. The best appointment house station garden trophy of the year was bagged by Assam House. In the major units competition, 58 GTC bagged the first prize while F Company Signal Regiment received the second prize. The first prize for the institution bungalows was bagged by Officers Holiday Home.

The first prize for independent bungalows was received by Maj SPS Sahota of ARC. The first prize for flower arrangements in officers category went to Maj Tarun Vij of HQ Recruiting Zone and in ladies category to Mrs Sahota (fresh flowers), Mrs Raghav (dry flowers) and Mrs Deepa Singh (foliage). Lt Col (Mrs) R Bhatia won the first prize for the arrangements of ikebana. The first prize for best bouquet by mali was bagged by Joylal Rai of Flag House. Durga Prasad Joshi and Raju Singh both of Station Cell 101 Area won the second and third prize respectively.

Brig SK Budhwar, Station Commander, Shillong gave away the over-all Station Garden Trophy to the winning team.
