Gallantry and distinguished service awards were presented to 98 soldiers at a glittering and colourful investitute ceremony held at Tiger Auditorium, Jammu.

Lt Gen Hari Prasad, GOC-in-C, Northern Command presented one Yudh Seva Medal, 84 Sena Medals, one Sena Medal for distinguished service, three Bars to Sena Medals and four Vishisht Seva Medals to the officers and men of the Indian Army. Out of these, eight Sena Medals were awarded posthumously.

Mrs Lakshmi Hari Prasad, President, Army Wives Welfare Association, Northern Command interacted with the next of kins of the posthumous awardees and lauded the supreme sacrifice of the jawans. Besides soldiers, their families and retired Army personnel, many civil and police dignitaries also attended the function.
