India and Italy to set up Joint Working Group

India and Italy have signed a protocol to set up a Joint Working Group to identify areas of future cooperation and guide their implementation. The protocol was signed at the second meeting of the Indo-Italy Joint Committee on Defence Cooperation. The protocol signed by the Defence Secretary, Mr Yogendra Narain and the Secretary General, Italian Ministry of Defence, General Alberto Zignani gave an impetus to the process of bilateral cooperation between India and Italy.

During the meeting, several areas for possible cooperation between the Armed Forces and defence industries of the two countries was discussed. The Financial Adviser Defence Services Mr P R Sivasubramaniam, Additional Secretaries, Mr Ajay Prasad and Mr L M Mehta, Vice Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Vinod Patney and Deputy Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen SS Mehta were amongst those present at the meeting.
