Bravo Range along with Tangkhuls Working Committee organised a public
meeting of the persons displaced from Imphal, presently staying at Town
Hall in Ukhrul. Brig V Suresh Nair, DIG, HQ 10 Sector Assam Rifles was the
chief guest at this meeting.
Speaking
on the occasion, Brig V Suresh Nair appealed to the people to maintain
communal harmony. He urged the displaced persons to return to their homes
and places of work in Imphal. Touching upon the ancient bondage between
the Nagas and the Meiteis, he emphasised the urgency of re-establishing
mutual trust and bonds of love between the two major communities of the
North East. The DIG assured all possible assistance including security and
transportation to people desirous of returning to Imphal.
At the end of the meeting, essential
items like 600 kgs of rice, 400 kgs of flour, 200 kgs of sugar, 30 kgs of
powder milk, 10 kgs of tea and 200 litres of kerosene oil as relief
material were handed over to the displaced persons from the Assam Rifles
resources. A free medical camp by 20 Assam Rifles was also conducted at
the venue where medical treatment and free medicines were made available
to the displaced persons.
