Gen NC Vij, Chief of the Army Staff was on a three-day visit to 16 Corps Zone to review the security situation. On reaching Corps Headquarters, the Army Chief was briefed by Lt Gen TPS Brar, GOC, White Night Corps, on security and operational preparedness of the Corps. Gen Vij also visited troops deployed in the forward areas of Rajouri, Poonch, Udhampur and Doda districts. Addressing the troops at forward locations, Army Chief expressd his satisfaction at the state of their operational preparedness and appreciated the high morale of the troops. He commended the troops for bringing back normalcy to Jammu and Kashmir. Gen NC Vij also called on the Governor at Raj Bhawan on the occasion.

It was the second visit to Jammu and Kashmir by Gen Vij after taking over as Chief of the Army Staff this year. His earlier visit to Kashmir Valley and Ladakh Sector was made in January.
