Lt
Gen BK Bopanna, Director General, NCC paid a three-day visit to the
Directorate of NCC (Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal). Brig AK Pandey, Deputy
Director General NCC (UP & UC) received the DG on arrival at the
Amausi airport.
Addressing the Group Commanders at
the Directorate of NCC (UP & UC), Lt Gen BK Bopanna said that the
Group Commanders were the backbone of the organisation. Commending them
for coordinating the NCC activities
in the two states, the DG said that they still have a major role to play
in shaping the youth of the country.
At
Lucknow Group Headquarters, Lt Gen Bopanna was presented a guard of honour
by SUO Vikram Sharma of 63 UP Battalion, NCC. Later, Col RK Nayar, Group
Commander and Dr SK Sharma briefed the Lieutenant General about
Pre-Selection Training Courses being conducted by the Group Headquarters.
The DG was also shown ship and aero models made by the cadets.
Thereafter,
the DG inaugurated the ‘Clean Gomti Operation’ launched by the Group
Headquarters on the Gomti bank. He also flagged-in a 17 member bicycle
expedition undertaken by No 66 UP Battalion NCC Raebarelli, with the aim
to spread the message of "peace and communal harmony."
The expedition team was led by Capt Nathoo Ali.
During the visit, Lt Gen Bopanna
called on the Governor of UP Mr Vishnu Kant Shastri and Lt Gen DS Chauhan,
GOC-in-C, Central Command. He also paid a visit to Faizabad where he had a
cup of tea with cadets, ANOs, GCIs and PI Staff.
