Gateway to Mamun

Standing proudly near the entrance to the Mamum Military Station and gracefully welcoming all visitors to the station, is the magnificent Mercury Jal Kunj. This complex of intricate rock garden and fountains is a feather in the cap of the architectural skills of 29 Infantry Division Signal Regiment and the Corps of Signals.

The landscaping of this rock garden was brainchild of Maj Gen RK Mehta, GOC 29 Infantry Division who was inspired after seeing a similar, but smaller rockery at 29 Infantry Division Signal Regiment. Consequently, the task of construction of Jal Kunj was entrusted to the same regiment whose able team of architects, under the guidance of CHM Ramesh Kumar, took just about three months to plan, design, landscape and finally built it up. The garden, especially when seen in the backdrop of the lights of the fountains after dusk, can stand at par with any renowned garden in Army cantonments.

Mercury Jal Kunj was inaugurated by Maj Gen RK Mehta, amidst a festive atmosphere. Speaking on the occasion, the GOC congratulated Col Sandeep Sharma, CO and all ranks of the regiment for providing the residents of this sprawling garrison with yet another favourite rendezvous.
