One
of the aims of Naval Wing NCC is to expose the cadets to all the facets of
Naval life, how ever demanding it may be. What more can a cadet ask for
when such exposure comes to him through Scuba Diving.
The aim of this ten-day camp, held in Delhi, was to
expose the cadets to the concept of under water diving. What one sees on National
Geographic or Discovery channels paints a very rosy and an
exciting picture. But to reach a position where an individual is capable
of donning a Bassca or a Divertor - is a long, very hard and a physically
demanding route. In the Indian Navy very few aspirants make it to the
coveted diving badge, as the attrition/dropout rate is very high.
The cadets drawn from all districts of Andhra Pradesh
were put into the grind by naval instructors. The relentless routine of
morning PT followed by class instructions, diving, maintenance of diving
sets kept the cadets extremely busy. The instructors were very happy with
the enthusiasm exhibited by the boys and the boys all praise for the men
training them. The camp also helped to imbibe the qualities of comradeship
and discipline among the cadets.
