Ex-Servicemen Rally

Usually, the ex-servicemen rallies are being organised under the aegis of Army formation/static establishment. However, it was for the first time that ex-servicemen rally was organised at Vadodara under the aegis of District Sainik Welfare and Resettlement office, Vadodara. The budgetary support was made available entirely through the Rajya Sainik Board.

A large number of ex-servicemen and their dependents belonging to districts of Kheda, Anand Vadodara, Panchmahal, Rajpipala, Bharuch, Surat, Navsari, Valsad and Dangs took part in the rally. Maj Gen ND Nargolwala (Retd), Brig MMS Bakshi (Retd) participated in the rally. Many war widows and war disabled also participated in the rally.

The rally was inaugurated jointly by Mr Harin Pathak, Minister of State for Home, Mr Amitbhai Shah Minister, Government of Gujarat. The war disabled and war widows were felicitated and were presented mementoes on the occasions. The veteran soldiers decorated with gallantry awards were also felicitated.

As part of the rally, the ex-servicemen were briefed on the newly launched Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS). They were also informed about benefits being extended by the Rajya Sainik Board. A citizen charter containing all details and information were handed over to the participants. Around 2000 ex-servicemen and their dependents took part in the above rally.

The EME School, Baroda had given full administrative support. A reception centre at railway station was established and service buses were made available for transportation of ex-servicemen from railway and bus station to the venue. The NCC cadets played important role in the feliciation ceremony. The NCC cadets from three wings added ceremonial colour to the rally.
