On the IT Highway

At Indian Military Academy, all attempts are made to extract maximum benefits from the advances being made in the field of information technology worldwide. Besides the procurement of the latest hardware and software, many projects relating to IT are being launched.

The IMA website - www.imagc. org is a storehouse of information on the Academy. The site is aimed at enhancing awareness about IMA among the youth of the nation and to motivate them to join this elite institution.

The site is divided into different sections carrying information on the history of this famous institution, procedure for admission, military and academic training, sports, adventure and co-curricular activities at IMA. The section on Dehra Dun gives information on places to visit in and around this beautiful town.

Two internet training labora-tories with the state-of-the-art equipment and the best available networking technology have been established at the Academy. The aim of estab-lishing these labs is to provide access to vast store of information available on the internet. It is a means of keeping GCs close to their near and dear ones. The labs are open to all Gentlemen Cadets, officers and their families.

An e-Library-cum-e-Learning Centre has been established. The facilities provided at this centre include books in digitised form, lesson plans, self-learning modules, computer based tutorials and computer based simulators. It is a boon for all learning enthusiasts and provides the required information at the touch of a button. This facility is an important study aid not only for the instructional staff but also for the GCs who, during the course of their training, have to work on different projects. This also assists those GCs who want to revise lesson plans at their own pace.

To facilitate easy transmission of information from one point to the other, networking channels are being established at the Academy with the purpose of improving day-to-day work culture. This also helps people to access to relevant information placed centrally on the central server located at the Chetwode Building.
