'Rhinos' Attested

Altogether 250 rhinos of the Assam Regimental Centre (ARC) were baptised as soldiers under the shadow of the dreaded dah. They marched past the reviewing dais to the tune of auld lang syne at an impressive attestation parade held at Parson Parade Ground in Happy Valley, Shillong. Maj Gen IJS Bora, GOC, 101 Area reviewed the parade.

The kasam parade was held under the shadow of the fluttering Tri-colour and the Presidential colour. The young soldiers pleged to sacrifice their lives for the nation, if called upon. Maj Gen Bora presented the awards of excellence to Sep VL Muauzona for best in drill, Sep N Ranjan Singh for overall best recruit and Sep O Nongneng for best in firing. Later, Maj Gen Bora complimented them for their excellent turnout and immaculate drill. Believing in excellence through professional competence, serving with dignity and honour and converting problems into challenges are the real mantras for the soldiers who aim high in their career, said Maj Gen Bora.
