Investiture Ceremony-2002

President, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam conferred 11 Kirti Chakra, three Vir Chakra, one Bar to Shaurya Chakra and 74 Shaurya Chakra on those Armed Forces personnel and civilians who displayed conspicuous gallantry, indomitable courage and extreme devotion to duty at a solemn ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhawan on October 29 and November 2, last.

The President also conferred 20 Param Vishisht Seva Medals, two Bar to Ati Vishisht Seva Medals, 45 Ati Vishisht Seva Medals on the senior officers of the Armed Forces for display of distinguished services of an exceptional order. Prime Minister, Mr Atal Behari Vajpayee, Deputy Prime Minister, Mr LK Advani, Defence Minister, Mr George Fernandes, Minister of State for Defence, Mr Chaman Lal Gupta, Minister of State for Defence Productions & Supplies,
Mr Harin Pathak, Marshal of the Indian Air Force Arjan Singh, Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Madhvendra Singh, Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal, S Krishnaswamy and other dignitatries were also present on the occasion.
