New GOC-in C, Northern Command

 

 

 

Lt Gen R K Nanavatty has assumed the appointment of General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command on the retirement of Lt Gen HM Khanna. Lt Gen Khanna was given a warm send-off.

 

Lt Gen R K Nanavatty was commissioned on December 11, 1962 as an Infantry Officer of the 8th Gorkha Rifles. He is the Colonel of his regiment and the President of the Gorkha Brigade. He is the recipient of the Uttam Yudh Seva Medel for the command of brigade in Siachen, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal for the command of a division in J&K and Param Vishisht Seva Medal for the command of a Corps in the North East.
