Gen
S Padmanabhan, Chief of the Army Staff visited Indian Military
Academy (IMA), Dehra Dun recently. On arrival at the Chetwode
Building, the General was received by Lt Gen Yuvraj Mehta,
Commandant, IMA and had a discussion on important training and
administrative issues after being briefed by the principal
staff officers.
The Army Chief saw the
photo display of the recently conducted adventure hikes which
included white water rafting, rappling, wind surfing,
watersports, hack ride, para motor adventure and rock
climbing. About 1000 Gentlemen Cadets (GCs) participated in 25
such hikes conducted during mid-term adventure training.
Lt
Gen Yuvraj Mehta conducted the Army Chief in the IMA campus
through Army Cadet College Wing, firing range, obstacle
training and confidence training area and briefed him about
the future planning and projects. The Army Chief was highly
impressed by the training simulators and was happy that
training infrastructure was being fully utilised. He laid
stress on achieving the highest possible standard in training.
The
General later visited War Memorial and signed the visitor’s
book. The General relived his stint with the Academy as a
Battalion Commander and Colonel, General Staff. Mrs Roopa
Padmanabhan, President Army Wives Welfare Association had a
meeting with the ladies of IMA in the Officers’ Institute
where she discussed issues pertaining to welfare of the
families.
