  Air Chief Visits Chandigarh
   
 

The Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal AY Tipnis paid a two-day visit to the Air Force Station, Chandigarh. He was accompanied by Mrs Molina Tipnis, President, Air Force Wives Welfare Association (AFWWA).

On his arrival, the Air Chief was received by the Air Officer Commanding 12 Wing, Air Cmde VS Govindarajan, Air Officer Commanding 3 BRD, Air Cmde Ambrish Kumar, Major General AD Artillery, Western Command, Major General Veerpal Singh and other senior officers. Mrs Molina Tipnis was received by Mrs Geetha Govindarajan and Mrs Reeta Kumar, both Presidents of AFWWA 12 Wing and 3 BRD respectively.

During his visit, Air Chief Marshal Tipnis inspected the two local Air Force Units of 12 Wing and 3 BRD. While addressing SNCOs, the Air Chief exhorted them to keep pace with the latest technologies in the field of aviation. He also complimented the Air Base for providing aid to civil authorities during the recent earthquake in Gujarat. Later at 3 BRD, the Air Chief Marshal released the first indigenously overhauled TV-3 engine of Mi-17 helicopter. Earlier, these engines were sent to Russia for overhauling.

Mrs Molina Tipnis took stock of various welfare activities being carried out by the local AFWWA units. Besides visiting the Station Sick Quarters and Air Force Schools, she also addressed the AFWWA ladies of the Station.
