  Here and There: Blessed Neem Tree-The Gift of Nature
   
 

It is said that plants growing in natural bounties carry one or more medicinal values. Some are herbs, shrubs and trees. These gifts of nature not only give us relief from ailments but also give comfort under their medicinal shades. In ancient time, planting neem trees and constructing dharamshalas was a worship to God. The neem tree keeps the environment very fresh and pure.

Neem tree is known to us through puranic texts like the Atharva Veda and the Upanishads etc.

Neem tree contains the following useful ingredients.

Azadinachton : This compound is an effective insecticide and biologically selective in not harming useful pest predators.

Solamin : This chemical controls pests.

Margosa oil : It is extracted from neem seeds and contains olic, palmitic or stearic acids, nembosterol and tannin which is good for health.

Some of the most important uses of neem are as follows :

It lowers cholesterols, clear arteries, purifies blood and guards heart diseases and cures piles. It gives a glowing skin and cures various skin diseases like dermatitis and eckzema aids longevity, controls diabetes, cures toothache and keeps teeth and gums healthy and banishes dandruff. The paste of neem leaves and margosa oil cures obesity, hastens healing of wounds, boils and rashes and stops bleeding. Dried nembosterol mixed with honey and pepper powder cures cold. Neem cake is used as fertilizer and neem oil is a safe contraceptive.

Neem trees can be grown all over India. It is highly recommended to grow more neem trees and take care of the existing ones.
