Defence Delegation to Romania and Bulgaria

A high level delegation led by Minister of State for Defence Production and Supplies, Mr Harin Pathak visited Romania and Bulgaria recently. The delegation consisted of Secretary, Defence Production and Supplies, Mr Ravindra Gupta, member Ordnance Factory Board, Mr AD Dave, PS to Minister of State for Defence Production and Supplies, Dr Ketan Shukla and Director, Planning and Coordination, Mr Rajesh Kumar.

The delegation visited these countries on the invitation of their Defence Ministers. The purpose of the visit was to strengthen bilateral defence cooperation and also to identify the micro level specific areas for medium and long-term cooperation. The delegation called on the President, Prime Minister, National Defence Minister, Minister of Trade and Industry and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania. The delegation in Bulgaria called on the Prime Minister, Defence Minister and External Affairs Minister. The delegation also visited various defence installations in Romania and Bulgaria.

Defence Pension Adalat in Delhi

A Defence Pension Adalat will be held in Delhi in October this year for redressal of grievances of Army and Defence civilian pensioners drawing their pension from Treasury Offices, Defence Pension Disbursement Offices, Pay and Accounts Offices and Public Sector Banks located in National Capital Territory of Delhi.

The pensioners having specific grievance regarding sanction/disbursement of pension by their pension disbursing authority may submit their representation (in triplicate) indicating their names, rank/post, regimental number/personal number, name of record office/last office attended, pension circular/pension payment order number and date, treasury serial number/pensioners’ serial number, name and address of the bank with savings account number in which pension is drawn, previous reference of CCDA(P), Allahabad, if any, latest postal address along with the specific nature of grievance, addressed to Mr SN Yadav, Pension Adalat Officer, Office of the Principal CDA (Pensions), Allahabad-210014.

All efforts will be made to redress the grievances in the Pension Adalat itself. All cases including those where settlement is not forthcoming even after a protracted correspondence will also be considered by the Adalat.

The exact date and venue of the Adalat will be notified later through the press. Pensioners attending the Adalat will have to bear their to and fro journey expenses.

AEC Celebrates Anniversary

The Army Education Corps celebrated its 53rd anniversary at the Western Command headquarters in Chandimandir. A wreath-laying ceremony at Veer Smriti, a get-together for officers of the command, barakhana for all ranks of the Corps and a social get-together for retired AEC officers settled in and around Chandigarh marked the celebrations.

Extending his felicitations and good wishes to all ranks of the Corps on the occasion, the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Command, Lt Gen Vijay Oberoi said that the Corps personnel have now assumed a broader role and their expertise, calibre and experience will be increasingly utilised for the development of human resources in the Army.

The Colonel Education in the Command headquarters, Col IS Punia said that since its raising on June 1, 1947, the Corps has played a key role in enhancing the educational and professional standards of the troops to a great extent. The Corps personnel have fanned out to perform their duties at every garrison, headquarters, training centres, units, category ‘A’ establishments, Sainik Schools, Military Schools and Services Selection Centres.

The Human Resources Development Centres (HRDCs) run by the Corps function as nodal centres for imparting SSC level education, training in foreign and regional languages, communication skills, ACC cadre classes, certificate education, map reading training and music training.

The AEC has also taken on the responsibility of providing distance education programmes to the officers, JCOs and other ranks of the Army through Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU). The IGNOU Army Education Project (IAEP) has elicited very encouraging response from all ranks of the Army.
