  A Different Visit

Under project Jyoti, an Aman Yatra was conducted by the Army and Victor Force. Thirty children and five school teachers from Kashmir visited the areas under Vajra Corps and other places. The children in the age group of 12 to 16 years and studying in classes VIII, IX and X also visited the holy city of Amritsar. The children visited the holy shrine of Golden Temple, Jallianwala Bagh and Guru Nanak Dev University. They also witnessed an impressive ceremonial parade at Joint Check-post at Wagah, Amritsar.

The children visited the Vajra Corps Headquarters where Maj Gen AD Nargolwala motivated them to join the Armed Forces. Travelling by train was a great experience as they had never seen it before. This visit provided an ideal opportunity to young children to integrate and identify themselves with the children of other states. The interaction not only broadened the horizon of children and their teachers, but also enabled them to experience the warmth and affection of the people from other states. The Aman Yatra certainly brought the youth from Kashmir closer to their brethren.
