Aviation Flight Celebrates Raising Day

 

 

 

The Aviation Flight located somewhere in the western sector celebrated the 30th raising day recently. The unit after its raising in 1971, has the distinction of taking part in 1971 war in eastern sector and other various operations conducted in the northern sector during the eighties. The Aviation Flight has flown almost 39,000 hours without any major accident. The aviators of the Flight has flown in eastern, northern and western sector in jungles, hills and mountains, plains and desert area.

The raising day was celebrated for two days. A Mandir function was held in which tributes were paid to those who laid down their lives. A special darbar was held in which the Commanding Officer, Lt Col Shashi Kant Singh, highlighted the achievements of the Flight. Acting ranks were given to five jawans during the Sainik Sammelan. He also briefed on the projects which are being undertaken and called upon the cooperation of all ranks to achieve the target. Special emphasis was given to tree plantation. An oath was taken by all ranks to look after ten trees per jawan.

A pagal gymkhana in which games for children of all age groups was organised. Painting competition for children of all ranks between five and eight years of age was also organised.

A variety of stalls were put up on the occasion. Scholarships were given to children of Junior Commissioned Officers and other ranks as per the merit during the prize distribution ceremony. It was for the first time, that the scholarship was introduced by the Commanding Officer in the unit with the aim of motivating young children to do well in academics. A barakhana followed by a variety entertainment programme was also organised on the occasion.
