ACQUISITION AIR


The acquisition of defence equipment is processed under Capital and Revenue procurement procedure. For Capital Procurement, Defence Procurement Procedure as amended from time to time, is adhered to. Whereas, for Revenue cases, Defence Procurement Manual is adhered to. The acquisition of Defence equipment is classified as Capital & Revenue Procurement based on different criteria. The detailed procedure for procurement of capital equipment is laid down in Defence Procurement Procedure (DPP) 2011 The DPP-2011 covers all Capital Acquisitions (except Medical Eqpt) undertaken by the MoD, Defence Services and Indian Coast Guard both from Indigenous Sources and Ex-import. Air Acquisition Wing is headed by Joint Secretary & Acquisition Manager (Air). He is supported by two Director/Deputy Secretaries and other officers and staff.  Air Acquisition Wing mainly deals with cases relating to capital procurement, upgradation of capital equipment, developmental projects and capital procurement cases relating to Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs) to meet the operational requirements of IAF and to build its capability for dealing with the security challenges. In addition to the above, this Wing also handles DPP related matters, periodical review of Air Force Capital Acquisition Schemes, Coordination work related to various matters of Indian Air Force like audit, Parliament Questions, Standing Committees etc., and also other parliament matters related to Air Acquisition Wing.
